Official Rules

SPONSOR. This Sweepstakes is sponsored by ‘WCIU, The U,’ whose corporate address is 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, Illinois 60661 (the "Sponsor").

ENTRY. A purchase is not required to enter or win one (1) all-inclusive trip to the Hard Rock Resort, Cancun, Mexico and/or one (1) of sixty (60) one hundred dollar ($100) cash prizes. ‘Cash Money May’ Sweepstakes begins Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM CST and ends Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 6:59 PM CST unless extended by ‘WCIU, The U.’ To participate, viewers must watch ‘WCIU, The U’ weekdays between 1:00 PM CST and 6:59 PM CST (or until the last keyword is broadcast in the 6:00 PM hour) during the Sweepstakes period for their chance to win. Each weekday, six (6) keywords will be shown during each of the follow programs on ‘WCIU, The U’:

To enter the Sweepstakes, viewers must enter a keyword at www.WCIU.com or text message a keyword that is aired one (1) time in the above programs on ‘WCIU, The U’ by the end of each hour in which the keyword airs; there are six (6) different keywords aired each weekday, one (1) keyword per program each day during the Sweepstakes period. The keywords will air between 1 PM and 6:59 PM CST; entrants should text the keyword they see during the program to ‘76274’ from their mobile phone or other personal mobile device or enter online at www.WCIU.com. The keywords are only valid within the one (1) hour period in which the keywords air. After the end of program in which the individual keyword has aired, that keyword will no longer be eligible or valid. I.E.: If a keyword airs at 1:25 PM during ‘The People’s Court,’ entrants have until 1:59 PM that same day to submit the keyword at www.WCIU.com or text the keyword to 76274 to be eligible for that hour’s prize. When entrants send a text message with their keyword, they can expect to receive two (2) text messages within ten (10) minutes; the first confirming that the Sponsor has received their entry, the second stating that a WCIU, The U representative will contact them within 24 hours, or in the instance of Friday, May 10, 2013 and Friday, May 17, 2013, the following Monday, to confirm eligibility and allow entrants to claim their prize. The text messages will also include information about the terms of use of this text message platform, including methods to stop future participation with or promotional messages via text from the Sponsor. Text entrants will be asked to verify they are 21 years of age or older with a valid birth date. Entrants who submit their keyword to the website will not receive any kind of automated response from the Sponsor. If an entrant is a winner, they’ll be notified within 24 hours of winning by a phone call from a 'WCIU, The U' representative through the phone number used in the Sweepstakes to confirm eligibility, coordinate prize logistics and collect the winners' contact information. If an entrant is not a winner, they will not receive any type of automated message, either by text or email. Only one (1) entry per person, per keyword will be accepted. Entrants cannot enter a single keyword both on the website and via text; they must pick only one (1) method of entry, website or text message, per keyword. Entrants that are found to be duplicates on the website and via text for a single keyword will be ineligible for that hour. 61 winners will be randomly selected using a computer software winner selection tool from all eligible website and text message-submitted entries. One (1) of the 60 cash winners will be randomly selected from each hour’s Sweepstakes period; one (1) winner will be selected for each keyword aired. One (1) grand prize winner will be randomly selected from all eligible entries at the end of the Sweepstakes period.

ELIGIBILITY. ‘Cash Money May’ Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of Illinois and Indiana who live in the Chicagoland television viewing area (as defined by A.C. Nielsen) and are 21 years of age or older. Employees of ‘WCIU, The U,’ Weigel Broadcasting Co., New Lenox Travel, Hard Rock Resorts, FunJet Vacations, Howard Ankin, Ankin Law Office LLC, Marathon Gas, Smash Code, WVON-AM and their advertising agencies, consultants, franchisees, suppliers, subsidiaries and family members of any of the above are not eligible to enter or win. Entrants must have a valid cell phone with a text messaging function. Entrants are responsible for all costs and fees associated with text message use by their cellular service carrier during this Sweepstakes.

Entrants agree not to upload, post or transmit any materials which contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful component or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information. Any attempt to deliberately damage any contesting system, website or database or undermine the operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and Sponsor reserves the rights to seek damages from any person who makes such attempt(s).

Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted by an individual or authorized account holder of an e-mail address or phone number owner shall be determined by ‘WCIU, The U’ in its sole discretion, and ‘WCIU, The U’ reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes. Entrants must own the cell phone they use to enter this Sweepstakes. The number to text message keywords will not be made available anywhere else but in these sweepstakes rules and on a lower-third graphic during each show during the designated times listed above; Sponsor employees are not able to release this number if entrants who don't see it when it is broadcast during each hour alongside the keyword.

PRIZES. One (1) grand prize winner will be awarded an all-inclusive trip for two (2) adults for four (4) nights at the Hard Rock Resort in Cancun, Mexico valued at $3,100. 60 winners will win one (1) one hundred dollar ($100) cash prize, valued at $100. Each of the 60 cash winners will be randomly selected from each hour’s pool of entrants; one (1) winner will be randomly selected for each keyword aired over the course of the Sweepstakes period. The grand prize winner will be selected from all eligible entrants at the end of the Sweepstakes period, including cash winners from both website and text message-based entrants. Odds of winning will be determined by the total number of eligible entries. Once notified through the phone number used to enter the Sweepstakes, the winners will have three (3) business days to claim their prize. If a winner fails to claim their prize, it will result in the forfeiture of the prize and a new drawing may be held from the remaining eligible entries at the discretion of ‘WCIU, The U.’ Prize winners must possess a valid picture ID and in possession of the cell phone used during the Sweepstakes to claim their prize. Prize winners' names will be listed on www.WCIU.com after they verbally accept their prize, but in the event they are found to be ineligible at any time, they will not receive any prize.

PRIZE RESTRICTIONS. Cash winners will be awarded one (1) one hundred dollar bill or five (5) twenty dollar bills; no checks. These prizes are non-transferable and travel must be completed by the date indicated on the prize voucher and terms & conditions. Prize dates can only be extended by New Lenox Travel, FunJet Vacations or Hard Rock Resorts. The grand prize winner and their travel companion must have a valid passport and be 21 years of age or older at the time of prize acceptance. Prizes are subject to black-out dates and terms and conditions of the prize provider. Travel must be completed by December 31, 2013. There will be no substitute or cash redemption awarded to any Sweepstakes winner. All income and other taxes are the responsibility of the winners. By entering, the winners are consenting to the use of their name, likeness, and/or biographical information for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY. Winners are responsible for income and other taxes on the prizes. Winners and their travel companion will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability, and Letter of Indemnification within three (3) business days of notification of being a winner. Prize winners must complete a 1099 form. Failure to comply with the rules and conditions of the Sweepstakes may result in a forfeiture of prize. Winners must claim their prize in person at the station at 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, Illinois during regular business hours at set times and dates established by the Sponsor. They must have the cell phone used to text message with them at the time of prize collection. If winners don't have this cell phone with them to verify ownership of the cell phone, a service bill with the winner's full name and phone number will suffice. It is at the total discretion of the Sponsor to award the prize if a winner is unable to prove ownership and/or possession of the cell phone used in the text messaging portion of this Sweepstakes. If any cash winner opts to have their prize sent to their home addresses with signature required, they must sign a release form releasing the Sponsor of liability and risk of loss; packages will be sent UPS Ground.

MISCELLANEOUS. The decisions made by ‘WCIU, The U,’ concerning any and all matters with respect to this promotion shall be final. In the event of a computer, telephone, cellular service, text message sweepstakes software failure, or any other circumstances beyond the control of ‘WCIU, The U,’ where it becomes impracticable to award one or more prizes, ‘WCIU, The U,’ may, in its sole and absolute discretion, determine not to award any such prize. This Sweepstakes is void where prohibited, penalized or otherwise restricted by law. A copy of these official Sweepstakes rules are available at the ‘WCIU, The U’ offices located at 26 N. If you wish to receive the names of Sweepstakes prize winners, you must send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to ‘Cash Money May – May ‘13’ 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL 60661. ‘WCIU, The U’ must receive any request for the winners’ names no later than November 10, 2013. Winners' names will be listed on www.WCIU.com until or through November 10, 2013.
