1. SPONSOR. This Contest is sponsored by ‘WCIU, The U’ whose address is 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, Illinois 60661.
2. ENTRY. A purchase is not required to enter the Contest. The Contest begins Wednesday, April 27, 2011 11:01 AM and ends Friday, May 27, 2011 8:30 AM unless extended by ‘WCIU, The U.’ Persons wishing to enter the Contest may do so at WCIU.com and complete an online form to register for a chance to win one (1) of five (5) various Prizes which include: one (1) Cardinal Fitness prize pack, one (1) Massage Envy prize pack, one (1) Dick’s Last Resort $50 gift certificate, one (1) pair of tickets to ‘A Twist of Water’ at the Mercury Theater, one (1) family pack of four (4) “Fast-Pass” tickets to the Willis Tower Skydeck (Weekly Prizes) or a ‘WCIU, The U’ Gift Bag, (Consolation Prize) (“Prize”). Only one entry per person, per email address, per day will be accepted. Each person must submit a ‘password’ at the time of each entry (and then be able to recall that password if or when contacted by a ‘WCIU, The U’ Station staff member for participation in this Contest). Each contestant will be selected at random from all online entries using a computer software winner selection tool and verified by a ‘WCIU, The U’ Station staff member prior to confirming eligibility and participation.
3. HOW TO PLAY. Eligible entrants who register between Wednesday, April 27, 2011 11:01 AM and Wednesday, May 25, 2011 11:00 AM will have the chance to win the opportunity to play ‘What Do U Know?’ via a live phone call on ‘You & Me This Morning.’ The Contest will occur in the 8 AM hour on Friday, May 6, May 13, May 20, and May 27, 2011 during the Contest period and consist of one contestant each week asked one (1) four-option multiple choice trivia question by a show host for the contestant’s chance to win one (1) of the five (5) Weekly Prizes. If the contestant correctly answers the trivia question, a ‘You & Me This Morning’ host will immediately spin a prize wheel with panels representing each of the five (5) Weekly Prizes. Where the needle stops spinning on the prize wheel determines which Weekly Prize the contestant wins. If the contestant does not answer the trivia question correctly, they will be given the Consolation Prize.
In the event of any contestant dispute, the authorized account holder of the mobile or terrestrial phone used to register will be deemed to be the actual contestant and he/she must be eligible according to these official rules. The authorized telephone account holder is the natural person listed on the account by the mobile or terrestrial phone service provider, associated with the phone number used to submit the entry. ‘WCIU, The U’ takes no responsibility for persons entering the Contest, answering the phone during the initial verification and confirmation call or before the on-air segment, participating in the Contest who do not have an authorized mobile or terrestrial account or communicating with Station representatives who are not the authorized account holder of the mobile or terrestrial phone used in the initial Contest entry.
4. ELIGIBILITY. The Contest is only open to all legal residents of Illinois and Indiana who are 21 years of age or older and live in the Chicagoland television viewing area (as defined by A.C. Nielsen Co.). Employees of ‘WCIU, The U,’ Weigel Broadcasting Co., Cardinal Fitness, Massage Envy, Dick’s Last Resort, Mercury Theater, Willis Tower and each of their advertising agencies, consultants, franchisees, suppliers, subsidiaries and family members are not eligible to enter or win. Selected contestants must be able to confirm their eligibility and participation in this Contest during the initial attempt made by a Station staff member to the phone number listed on the entrants’ submitted contact entry form. Initial phone calls will be made to randomly selected entrants on Wednesday, May 4, May 11, May 18, and May 25, 2011 during the Contest period between 1 PM and 3 PM. If initial contact is unsuccessful, an alternate entrant will be selected until a verified, eligible contestant is confirmed to participate via phone on the date and time specified by the Station’s staff. Selected entrants must be able to supply the exact ‘password’ used for their Contest entry when a Station staff member requests this information as part of the confirmation of eligibility process. Persons who are not the actual and original Contest entrant are not eligible to participate or win. Entrants who have previously participated in any previous ‘What Do U Know’ contest sponsored by ‘WCIU, The U’ are not eligible to participate or win the Contest.
5. PRIZE. ‘WCIU, The U,’ Cardinal Fitness, Massage Envy, Dick’s Last Resort, Mercury Theater, and Willis Tower guarantee that up to four (4) weekly contestants who correctly answer a trivia question will receive one (1) of the following possible Weekly Prizes from the prize wheel: one (1) Cardinal Fitness prize pack consisting of a one (1) year membership, one (1) personal training session, one (1) Cardinal Fitness hat and one (1) Cardinal Fitness scarf valued at $150, one (1) Massage Envy prize pack consisting of an hour and half long massage and a 4.5 oz. Murad Vitamin C Cleanser valued at $100, one (1) gift certificate to Dick’s Last Resort valued at $50, one (1) pair of tickets to see ‘A Twist of Water’ at the Mercury Theater valued at $90, or one (1) family pack of four (4) “Fast-Pass” tickets to the Willis Tower Skydeck valued at $120. In the event of an incorrect answer to the trivia question, the contestant will receive a ‘WCIU, The U’ Gift Bag which includes one (1) DVD of ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and one (1) ‘Emily Osment’ CD, valued at approximately $35. Odds of winning will be determined by total number of Contest entries. Per Section 4, any selected weekly entrant who cannot be contacted during The U’s initial attempt to confirm their selection after an initial phone call to the number listed on their entry will be disqualified and an alternate contestant will be selected from the remaining entries until a confirmed, eligible weekly contestant is selected. All Prize winners must possess a valid picture ID to claim their Prizes.
6. PRIZE RESTRICTIONS. The Prizes are non-transferable and must be picked up at ‘WCIU, The U’s station at 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, Illinois within 30 days of winning unless otherwise specified, after which point the Prize(s) are forfeited and no longer available for pick-up. There will be no substitutes or cash redemptions awarded to the Contest winners. Individual Prizes are subject to their own terms and conditions. The exact DVD and CD selection in the ‘WCIU, The U’ Gift Bag is up to the sole discretion of the Station. By entering, the winners shall consent to the use of their name, likeness, voice and/or biographical information for advertising and promotional purposes related to the Contest, without additional consideration.
7. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY. The winners are responsible for income and other taxes on their Prize. The winners will be required to check a box on the Contest page when entering this Contest that is confirmation of participation, eligibility, release of liability and indemnification prior to their on-air Contest date. Failure to comply with the rules and conditions of the Contest will result in a forfeiture of their Contest opportunity and/or Prize.
8. MISCELLANEOUS. The decisions made by ‘WCIU, The U’ concerning any and all matters with respect to this promotion shall be final, including the verification and confirmation of each potential Contest entrant by Station staff. In the event of a computer or telephone failure, or any other circumstances beyond the control of ‘WCIU, The U’ where it becomes impracticable for ‘WCIU, The U’ to award the Prizes, ‘WCIU, The U’ may, in its sole and absolute discretion, determine not to award any such Prizes or any Prize et al. ‘WCIU, The U’ is not responsible for replacing the Prizes as a result of events beyond the control of the ‘WCIU, The U.’ This Contest is void where prohibited, penalized or otherwise restricted by law. Halsted, Chicago, IL 60661. If you wish to receive the names of the Contest Prize winners, you must send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to WCIU, ‘What Do U Know - May,’ 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL 60661. ‘WCIU, The U’ must receive any such request for the winners’ name no later than August 9, 2011.
