SPONSOR. This Sweepstakes is sponsored by ‘WCIU, The U,’ whose corporate address is 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, Illinois 60661 (the "Sponsor").
1. ENTRY. A purchase is not required to enter or win one (1) trip to the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico or a daily prize of one (1) of eight (8) $100 cash prizes. Sweepstakes begins Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM and ends Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 3:59 PM unless extended by ‘WCIU, The U.’ To participate, viewers must watch the Court Block weekdays beginning 1:00 PM through 4:59 PM during the Sweepstakes period on ‘WCIU, The U’ for their chance to win. The Court Block comprises ‘The People’s Court’ at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM and ‘Judge Mathis’ at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM CST. Two (2) distinct code words will be shown during each of the four (4) total episodes of ‘The People’s Court’ and ‘Judge Mathis’ each weekday; a total of eight (8) distinct code words will be shown each weekday. To enter the Sweepstakes, viewers must submit the Code Words within each show’s 24 cycle. The 1 PM hour deadline is 12:59 PM the following day; the 2 PM hour deadline is 1:59 PM the following day; the 3 PM hour deadline is 2:59 PM the following day; the 4 PM hour deadline is 3:59 PM the following day. The last day a code word will be shown in this Sweepstakes in Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Only one (1) entry per person, per email address, per code word, per will be accepted. 161 winners will be selected using a computer software winner selection tool from all eligible entries.
Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, misdirected or mutilated entries, including due to technical/network failures, human error, or any other error or malfunction. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void.
Entrants agree not to upload, post or transmit any materials which contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful component or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and Sponsor reserves the rights to seek damages from any person who makes such attempt(s).
Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted by an individual or authorized account holder of an e-mail address shall be determined by ‘WCIU, The U’ in its sole discretion, and ‘WCIU, The U’ reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes.
2. ELIGIBILITY. ‘Courthouse Cash’ Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of Illinois and Indiana who live in the Chicagoland television viewing area (as defined by A.C. Nielsen) and are 21 years of age or older. A valid passport is needed for travel. Employees of ‘WCIU, The U,’ Weigel Broadcasting Co., New Lenox Travel, Moon Palace Resorts, FunJet Vacations, Toyota and their advertising agencies, consultants, franchisees, suppliers, subsidiaries and family members of any of the above are not eligible to enter or win.
3. PRIZES. One (1) winner will be awarded an all-inclusive trip for two (2) adults for four (4) nights at the Moon Palace Resort valued at $3,100. 161 winners will win one (1) $100 cash prize, awarded in the form of a corporate check, valued at $100. The first winner selected from all eligible entries will win the grand prize to the Moon Palace Resort; the following 160 will be $100 cash winners. Winners are selected at the end of the sweepstakes period. Odds of winning will be determined by the total number of eligible entries. Once notified, the winners will have three (3) business days to claim their Prize. If a winner fails to claim their Prize, it will result in the forfeiture of the Prize and a new drawing may be held from the remaining eligible entries at the discretion of ‘WCIU, The U.’ Prize winners must possess a valid picture ID to claim their Prize. Grand Prize winners have seven (7) business days to respond to the New Lenox Travel representative beginning the first day that they are notified that their travel documents are released.
4. PRIZE RESTRICTIONS. These Prizes are non-transferable and travel must be completed by the date indicated on the Prize voucher and terms & conditions. Travel plans must be made exactly according to the voucher provided by New Lenox Travel and the other prize providers. Prize dates cannot be extended. The grand Prize winners and their travel companions must have a valid passport and be 21 years of age or older at the time of Prize acceptance. Prizes are subject to black-out dates and terms and conditions of the Prize provider. Travel must be complete by December 28, 2014. There will be no substitute or cash redemption awarded to any Sweepstakes winner. All income and other taxes are the responsibility of the winners. By entering, the winners are consenting to the use of their name, likeness, and/or biographical information for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration.
5. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY. Winners are responsible for income and other taxes on the Prizes. Winners and their travel companion will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability, and Letter of Indemnification within three (3) business days of notification of being a winner. Prize winners must complete a 1099 form. Failure to comply with the rules and conditions of the Sweepstakes may result in a forfeiture of Prize. Taxes on these prizes will be applied to the 2014 tax year even if travel is not completed by December 28, 2014.
6. MISCELLANEOUS. The decisions made by ‘WCIU, The U,’ concerning any and all matters with respect to this promotion shall be final. In the event of a computer, telephone failure, or any other circumstances beyond the control of ‘WCIU, The U,’ where it becomes impracticable to award one or more prizes, ‘WCIU, The U,’ may, in its sole and absolute discretion, determine not to award any such Prize. This Sweepstakes is void where prohibited, penalized or otherwise restricted by law. A copy of these official Sweepstakes rules are available at the ‘WCIU, The U’ offices located at 26 N. If you wish to receive the names of Sweepstakes Prize winners, you must send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to ‘Courthouse Cash – May ’14 - winners, 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL 60661. ‘WCIU, The U’ must receive any request for the winners’ names no later than November 20, 2014.
